This lovely surprise birthday party took place on an icy, snowy February night in The Historic Bank Building at Cantwell’s Tarvern in Colonial Odessa, Delaware. As well as capturing family and guests (those hardy enough to make to the party, my goal was to represent some of the antique bank features such the artwork and the old safe on the left, (where I put the birthday cake) and the warmth of the room. Through the windows I was able to select some of the colonial buildings as it was snowing. Also, sitting at the table, is the families’ dog, Trevor, who, although he died a few years ago, has not been forgotten, and will live on forever in the painting. Unfortunately it was difficult to capture the colors in this painting in the photo which appears rather dark.
